The SNMP command tool allows the tester to perform individual “get,” “next,” and “set” operations.
When it’s invoked, you’re prompted to enter the object name and value.
The tester can enter an object ID or name such as sysContact, then click on the “Get” button.
The window will display the value for that object ID.
The tester could also enter a value for a particular object and click on the “Set,” button to change or add to that value.
The “Next” button will step through the entire range of Name/OID values for the MIB, one value at a time.
The bottom of the window displays both the error status and error index values resulting from the requested SNMP command. The “Lookup” button can be used to open the MIB dictionary with the name of the specified branch or object already selected.
