Release: 2016 BETA Build 16.04.03-b1 Date: 2016-04-03
---------------------------------------------------------------------

[New Feature] SilverCreek now supports validating MIB files based on the following multiple levels of severity:
1. critical error, may lead to severe problems
2. major error, probably tolerated by some implementations
3. error, tolerated by many implementations
4. major warning, recommended to be changed
5. warning, can be ignored in most cases
6. info, can be safely ignored, just a notice.

This can be used to identify as much as possible issues in customers' private MIBs. This feature is available through SilverCreek menu MIB | Validating MIB by Severity Levels.

[New Feature] Customers can now save their trap receiver settings such as SNMPv3 trap originators and inform users etc. and load them on another computer. This new feature allows sharing trap tester's settings among team members.

[New Feature] All tests in SilverCreek 'Standard' test-suites are now made to honor the option "Test | Disable SET Tests ...", in addition to all tests in 'Protocol' category.

[Critical Fix] If a MIB defines objects (MIB branches) in another MIB, SilverCreek failed to produce all MIB scopes that need to be tested in MIB Testing mode.

[Critical Fix] The inital selection in MIB Testing pane was not remembered when switching from "Enterprise" to "Standard" or vice versa.

[Critical Fix] When opening a previously saved context file, the selected MIBs are not marked as 'checked' in the 'MIB Testing' pane. Consequently SilverCreek keeps asking users to select MIBs
to test.

[Critical Fix] When setting engineTime to an arbitrary value to test, the engineTime update was disabled unexpectedly. This was causing test4.25.2.2 to generate a false failure reporting incorrect snmpInPkts count due to the misconfigured engineTime.

[Critical Fix] Certain preference settings such as MIB loading options "ignore critical errors" was not remembered when restarting SilverCreek.

[Bug Fix] When selecting to open test-suites that are at the bottom of the tree pane, the selected test-suite node was not made visible in the view after listing tests.

[Bug Fix] TOKEN-RING-MIB was not available to test in the MIB Testing mode.

[Bug Fix] The local agent listening port 161 and local agent timeout settings for Inform configuration should not be displayed in the standalone trap tester. This settings are irrelevant.

Release: 2016 Build 16.01.29 Date: 2016-01-29
---------------------------------------------------------------------

[New Feature] Added two new SNMPv3 tests: test3.2.1.6 and test3.4.4.6 to check if authorizationError error status is returned properly when an unsupported secutiryLevel request is attempted to access the DUT.

[New Feature] Add support to ignore all writable objects in selected MIBs. The “Test | Fine-tune Testing Options” dialog now supports pattern matching like "MIB-NAME:, :*, in addition to objectName and MIB-NAME:objectName".

[New Feature] Added support to save test results into an html file directly from GUI, or via CLI command snmptcl::results file when the file name given has .html extension.

[New Feature] Added three new tests: test1.1.11.18, test2.4.1.4 and test3.4.1.4 to check get and set requests with PDU size exceeds a predefined number of value (default to 1500 bytes).

[New Feature] Added three new tests: test1.1.16.4, test2.3.2.4 and test3.3.2.4 that sends get request to the DUT using an invalid, out-of-range integer type instance IDs.

[New Feature] test2.6.2 and test3.6.2 now check if there are different sysORIDs listed in sysORTable than what is specified in the advanced configuration parameter 'validSysORIDs'.

[New Feature] Added a new option "octetstringformat" in Tools | SNMP Command Script Generator. Customers can use this option to compare octet-string values in either display-hint formatted form, hex form or backwards compatible ASCII chars form if desired.

[Enhancement] Updated sample script run_tests_basic.tcl to show how to set up snmptest(changeobject) etc. to customize MIB object definitions.

[Enhancement] Updated test1.1.2.2, test2.1.2.3 and test3.1.2.3 to check if mismatched variables are dynamic variables automatically.

[Enhancement] Clarify notification error message about wrong enterprise value by using the actual value from the variable binding in question and also by adding the variable binding's index number in the error message.

[Enhancement] In trap monitor, Octet-String values that do not have an associated DISPLAY-HINT now contains both octet sequence and readable ASCII string.

[Enhancement] Updated test1.1.6, 2.1.3.3 and 3.1.3.3 to check if the agent under test reports inconsistent endOfMibView.

[Enhancement] Change packet watch and summary output in SilverCreek console to print readable value formatted according to display-hint.

[Critical Fix] Test3.3.1.5 and test3.4.4.6 should be expecting a snmpUnknownContexts report, rather than no response. Now these two tests will also abort testing if the DUT sends out no response after 15 iterations. This is done to avoid a possible undesired very long period of time running these two tests.

[Critical Fix] Notification Monitor crashes on startup on Windows when entering engine-id in the form of 0x12345678901234567800.

[Critical Fix] Test1.1.11.14.0, test2.4.6.1.1.0 and test3.4.6.1.0 were expecting badValue and inconsistentValue, along with "noError" incorrectly as acceptable error return status incorrectly. Also enable these tests and test2.4.6.2.0, test3.4.6.2.0 and test1.1.11.15.0 to run as normal tests, rather than need customers to turn on the EnablePositiveTests flag.

[Critical Fix] Fixed broken backward compatibility issue when using the -octetstringformat option in commands like snmptcl::snmpget, snmptcl::snmpnext etc. commands in releases after 2015-01-28. Added one more option -octetstringformat 3 and updated the behavior of -octetstringformat 1 to be backward compatible. So now we have:
0: No formatting but return readable ASCII string if it contains all printable chars, otherwise Hex
1: Formatting, otherwise return readable ASCII string if it contains all printable chars
2: No formatting, always return Hex string
3: Formatting per display-hint, otherwise return Hex string

[Critical Fix] Bits construct was not allowed as a valid index type in snmptcl::getIndices command.

[Critical Fix] Console debug watch and Packet Recorder tool were always showing Hex string for an OctetString value. Now changed to show values formatted based on any DisplayHint defined, otherwise show readable ASCCII string if it contains all printable characters.

[Critical Fix] [snmpinfo mibprop trap varlist] was returning duplicated list of required objects if the trap is defined in two different MIBs.

[Critcal Fix] Test1.1.11.15, test2.4.6.2 and test3.4.6.2 were generating a false failure if the MIB object used in the SET test uses a DisplayHint other than DisplayString.

[Critical Fix] The value that has a Display-Hint defined such as DateAndTime value in SNMP Command Tool and SNMP Command Wizard tool was displayed incorrectly.

[Critical Fix] When setting an agent context's engineTime to an arbitrary value the last known engineTimeMax which is derived from the previous reply packet must not be changed. This was causing test4.2.5.4 to generate an error under certain scenarios.

[Critical Fix] In packet recorder tool, all authentication parameters were displayed as a sequence of 0s.

[Critical Fix] Test1.1.6, 2.1.3.3 and 3.1.3.3 were generating an ERROR if the DUT fails the test with an unexpected endOfMibView exception.

[Critical Fix] Test1.1.11.1.1, 2.4.1.3, 3.4.1.3 were sometimes generating Errors because they were trying to set using wrong values.

[Critical Fix] Deleting a MIB in "Load | Delete MIB" dialog was not deleting the original MIB and the generated .tmp file, only the .defs was removed, despite the intention to remove them too.

[Critical Fix] Various windows were not raised in the viewable area when an extended display is in use. This is a new issue introduced with newer TclTk 8.6 windowing system.

[Critical Fix] If dual display is used and the main display is not set to the original display where SilverCreek is installed originally, the various windows and dialogs may not get started in a visible state.

[Bug Fix] Using "up and down" arrow key to get command history in SilverCreek console is lost with tcltk8.6.

[Doc Bug] [snmpinfo mibprop trap varlist] that return the objects to include in a trap is not documented in the developer guide.

Release: 2015 Build 15.08.10 Date: 2015-08-10
---------------------------------------------------------------------

[New Feature] SilverCreek now ships with TclTk8.6.4 release. Customers can use many new features offered by tcltk8.6. Tcltk 8.4 is still supported.

[New Feature] SilverCreek now provides a new option 'Test | Disable SET tests in Protocol testsuites' to skip all automated protocol tests that checks SNMP set operations. This is useful if the DUT does not support SET at all.

[New Feature] Tests in SilverCreek protocol testsuites now validate AutonomousType values and additionally check if hrStorageType, hrDeviceType, and hrFSType objects contain valid values registered in
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB.

[New Feature] SilverCreek test result file now includes the ‘test purpose’ field defined in testset.tcl file, which is often used as a short description of what the test does.

[New Feature] SilverCreek now supports transforming XML formatted result files into HTML files with embedded CSS. Customers can easily email out the generated HTML files and also display them in a browser.

[Enhancement] Test1.1.4, test2.1.3.1, and test3.1.3.1 now automatically determine if a dynamic variable has gone away by issuing a get request on the original test OID.

[Enhancement] SilverCreek now reports notInTimeWindow error in all subsequent tests when the device under test starts to keep its etime and eboot constant.

[Enhancement] Added an option to determine whether test remarks should be saved in a test result file. When generating HTML result, no 'test remarks' column would be generated when the result file does not contain test remarks.

[Enhancement] SilverCreek Test | Automation Wizard now generates scripts that accept a port number. Customers can then run multiple RI automation scripts via different remote port simultaneously.

[Enhancement] Updated test1.1.11.4, 1.1.11.5, 1.1.11.6, 1.1.11.7, 1.1.11.8, 1.1.11.10, 1.1.11.11, test2.4.3.1, 2.4.3.2, 2.4.3.3, 2.4.3.4, 2.4.4.1, 2.4.4.2, 2.4.4.3, 2.4.4.4, test3.4.3.1, 3.4.3.2, 3.4.3.3, 3.4.3.4, 3.4.4.1, 3.4.4.2, 3.4.4.3 and test3.4.4.4 to restore the variable tested to its original value if the DUT accepted the set incorrectly.

[Critical Fix] The command getIndices_sync was generating an error complaining about bad index when a table row returns incomplete index instances. This was causing test18.10.2 and test18.10.3 to generate a runtime ERROR.

[Critical Fix] The stand-alone notification monitor was not working properly in SilverCreek BSCM1 edition.

[Critical Fix] SNMP Framework MIB was not included in the default MIBs-to-test list in the “MIB Testing” mode.

[Critical Fix] test1.1.2.2, test2.1.2.3 and test test3.1.2.3 may report a false failure result if the option ‘test | Ignore lexi ordering error’ is enabled. This is caused by a bug in handling endOfMibView in the nextwalk command.

[Critical Fix] The command [snmpinfo format] was imposing a max length 255 incorrectly when converting an octet-string value according to its DISPLAY-HINT. This was causing test1.1.9, 1.1.9.2, 1.1.11.2, 1.1.11.17 and other similar tests to generate an error if there are MIBs that define DISPLAY-HINT (0..1024a) for octet-string objects.

[Critical Fix] A Tcl error was raised when running tests if customers remove all MIB file patterns in the option ‘Tools | Options | Misc’.

[Critical Fix] Test5.2.6.1 may generate a runtime Tcl error when the DUT fails this test.

[Critical Fix] Running tests4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.6.3, 4.6.4, 4.6.5, 4.6.6, 4.6.7, 4.6.8 and test4.6.11 from command line interface was getting a false failure result

[Bug Fix] Updated test failure message for test1.1.11.10.0, test2.4.4.3.0 and test3.4.4.3.0 to clarify the meaning of two conflicting "message data received"

[Change] Renamed the resource file .silvercreekrc12 to .silvercreekrc13 so that we can run older SilverCreek (tcltk8.4) and new SilverCreek (tcltk8.6) on the same Linux computer to avoid font size conflicts.

Release: 2015 Build 15.01.28 Date: 2015-01-28
---------------------------------------------------------------------

[New Feature] Added support to install SilverCreek on Linux without having to rely on an X window GUI desktop. Now SilverCreek can be installed using './install.sh -t' from a text terminal directly.

[New Feature] Silvercreek can now uses MIB files that are symbolic links. It can also detect if there are changes in the linked MIB files and recompile them automatically when necessary while starting up.

[New Feature] Added 17 new tests (test16.2.x.x) in IP-FORWARD-MIB testsuite 16.0 to exercise row creation, deletion and transition of inetCidrRouteTable. These tests attempt to set columnar objects and index objects in inetCidrRouteTable using both valid and invalid values and check if they function properly.

[New Feature] Tools->Memory Leak Tool now supports automatically monitoring the value of hrSWRunPerfMem to monitor the memory usage of SNMP agent/sever process under testing. The tool now also allows users to specify the number of times, or an unlimited number of times, or alternatively how long the testing should run.

[New Feature] The following commands snmptcl::getop, snmptcl::nextop and snmptcl::setop now accept an optional argument octetstringformat (0/1/2) to determine if the string value should be formatted based on its display-hint or not, or always returned as a hex string.

[New Test] Added two new SNMPv3 protocol tests (test3.3.1.5 and test3.4.4.5). These two tests verify that the agent under test discards the SNMP set and get requests containing invalid context names and without any catastrophic side effects. These two tests first appear in SilverCreek release 2014.14.08.16.sp1, but was not officially announced.

[New Feature] Added 'timeout' as an error status to expect in Tools | Tcl script generator tool. Customers can use this to verify if the device under test does not respond to unsupported operations.

[Critical Fix/Change] SilverCreek now displays OctetString value as hex sequence by default, even if they are all printable characters, unless there is a display-hint defined for the value. This helps make SilverCreek MIB browser renders properly for OctetString Type is used to represent binary data.

[Critical Fix] SilverCreek performance measuring tool hangs when sending asynchronous requests using a large burst count and retries is set to 0.

[Critical Fix] If there are more than one MIB directory specified in the MIB_PATH, the generated definitions (.defs) files are placed only in the first directory. This was causing SilverCreek to recompile the MIB files in the rest of directories every time it starts.

[Critical Fix] Fix several unsafe memory operations in snmptcl dynamic library that may cause undefined behavior.

[Critical Fix] The CLI command snmptcl::context new -ctxname was not able to create an agent context with an empty ctxname.

[Critical Fix] SilverCreek MIB walking test was getting in an infinite loop when running SNMPv1 tests but the DUT sends back SNMPv2c response instead.

[Critical Fix] Log text results from automation wizard was getting an error about not being able to locate the log file.

[Critical Fix] The option -octetstringformat=0/1 in commands snmptcl::snmpget, snmptcl::snmpnext, snmptcl::snmpset, and snmptcl::snmpbulk were not working.

[Critical Fix] The trap OID was not resolved properly for duplicated SMIv2 trap definitions.

[Change] Made SilverCreek license error message to include the path and file name it is trying to locate. This can help determine why license file is not been found.

[Critical Fix] When receiving V3 inform in the stand-alone notification monitor SilverCreek may send back a report with an incorrect user name on Linux platform.

[Critical Fix] Trap monitor in SCM2 edition was not working properly.

[Critical Fix] Test10.2.6, 10.2.7 and test10.2.8 were requesting using wrong OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.14.0.1, rather than 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.14.0.

[Critical Fix] When creating notification filter entry via Tools |Options | Configuring Notification Tables wrong snmpNotifyFilterSubtree index value being set. Instead of using the subtree object-ID value, the tool is converting the subtree to ASCII and appending it to the index incorrectly.

[Bug Fix] Displaying XML result file may fail due to illegal character '§' in the test description.

[Bug Fix] SilverCreek CLI was not picking up the MIB path saved in context file when snmptcli.tcl is loaded. The behavior was different from the GUI.

[Bug Fix] MIB compiling error message window was not shown on the top of the SilverCreek main window with tcltk 8.5 on Windows 64 bit platform.

[Bug Fix] The generated MIB .tmp file should not be automatically compiled and loaded in CLI as normal MIB files. This was causing deleting MIB definition files to fail if the setting is saved to the resource file .silvercreekrc12 file.

[Change] On Linux the directory to store the captured/recorded packets is changed from SilverCreek installation directory to the 'silvercreek' folder under user's home directory.

[Change] Changed to also display module name for the Textual Convention retrieved when showing the results of walking MIB branch in the MIB browser.

Release: 2014 Build  140910 Beta  Date:2014-09-10
---------------------------------------------------------------------

[New Feature] Added 17 new tests (test16.2.x.x)  in IP-FORWARD-MIB test suite 16.0 to exercise row creation, deletion and transition in inetCidrRouteTable. These tests attempt to set columnar objects and index objects in inetCidrRouteTable using both valid and invalid values and check if they function properly.

[New Feature] Tools->Memory Leak Tool now supports automatically detecting the value of hrSWRunPerfMem to monitor the memory usage of snmp agent/sever process under testing. The tool now also allows users to specify the number of times, or an unlimited number of times, or alternatively how long the testing should run.

[Critical Fix] When creating notification filter entry via Tools-Configuring Notification Tables wrong snmpNotifyFilterSubtree index value being set. Instead of using the subtree object-ID value, the tool is converting the subtree to ascii and appending it to
the index incorrectly.

[New Test] Added two new SNMPv3 protocol tests (test3.3.1.5 and test3.4.4.5). These two tests verify that the agent under test discards the SNMP set and get requests containing invalid context names and without any catastrophic side effects.

[Change] On Linux the directory to store the captured/recorded packets is changed from SilverCreek installation directory to the 'silvercreek' folder under user's home directory. This is to allow recording packets when SilverCreek is installed in a folder where a user has no write access.

Release: 2014 Build 140816 Date:2014-08-16
---------------------------------------------------------------------

[New Feature] SilverCreek now supports 64-bit (x64) natively on both Linux and Windows platforms. It is no longer necessary to run SilverCreek as a 32-bit application on a 64-bit machine.

[New Feature] Support adding and deleting MIBs directly in SilverCreek stand-alone Notification Monitor.

[New Feature] Extend SilverCreek SNMPv3 engineID discovery test 4.6.x to cover get-next/get-bulk/set request types, in addition to the get request type.

[Critical Fix] SilverCreek set positive tests such as test1.1.11.10.0, test2.4.3.3.0, and test3.5.1.6.0 etc. that set with all valid values of writable variables could not be enabled and invoked when running from CLI.

[Critical Fix] Running MIB walking tests repeatedly using a SNMPv3 authPriv user may crash SilverCreek on Windows XP.

[Critical Fix] SilverCreek was returning out of order OIDs in certain cases when searching MIB branches to use in the scoped MIB testing.

[Critical Fix] Suppress errors when SilverCreek resource file .silvercreekagenthistory file can't be written. Now a message is displayed on the status bar, rather than generating an error.

[Critical Fix] SilverCreek Tcl API command snmptcl::oidpack was handling NET-ADDRESS-MIB:InetAddressIPv4 incorrectly.

[Critial Fix] Starting SilverCreek on some versions of Linux distributions may fail with error "bad option "sans": must be -family, -size, -weight"

[Critical Fix] Test18.2.1 was generating a false negative result complaining "no entry found for SNMP service on port 161" when testing udpEndpointTable.

[Critical Fix] When running test1.2.2, 2.9.2 and 3.9.2, an error "Unknown object ' ' could not be found" was generated, instead of printing out the real problematic MIB object.

[Critical fix] Initialize two global flags in CLI if they haven't been initialized before. This fixes an error raised when there is no SilverCreek resource file .silvercreekrc11 or the resource file has never been created.

[Critical fix] Fix conflicts when the options -expectvalue and -octetstringformat are both enabled. Previously when –expectvalue and -octetstringformat=1 are specified then the range checking will report a failure, otherwise if -octetstringformat=0, the value comparison would report failure.

[Critical Fix] snmptcl::setIpv6Data was not handling shortened IPv6 address properly. For example 4fe3:0:e::1 should be formatted as "4fe3:0000:000e:0000:0000:0000:0000:0001", not "4fe3:0000:0000:0000:0000:000e:0000:0001"

[Bug Fix] Running scripts created by automation wizard from a Tcl shell directly was not able to locate license file.

[Bug Fix] Changing font size was not working on CentOS, Ubuntu and Fedora20. Font settings saved in the SilverCreek resource file .silvercreekrc11 was triggering startup errors if the system defaults to a font name containing spaces.

[Bug fix] Loading Polling tool first and then attempting to run Memory Leak tool script would get an undefined variable error.

[Bug fix] Removed option -mibwalktype from the context/agent file created in SilverCreek script generator tool, which was triggering an error if users have configured MIB walking scope before invoking the Script generator tool.

[Bug Fix] Switching to 'MIB Testing' tab page right after starting SilverCrek was Generating an error on CentOS Linux.

[Bug fix] When SilverCreek Polling tool is opened, opening Memory Leak tool would incorrectly get the already opened Polling tool.

[Bug Fix] MIB dictionary sometimes incorrectly displays object description as 'N/A'. The syntax for 'not-accessible objects" in MIB Dictionary's 'Modules' tab was using the same value as its preceding object, while it should have been 'N/A'.

[Bug Fix] When running tests in CLI, Set PRINT_REMARKS to 0 was not working if it is called before snmptcl::startup is called.

[Change] renamed SilverCreek resource file .silvercreekrc11 to .silvercreekrc12

[Change] Strip the leading tabs when displaying MIB object description in MIB dictionary.

[Change] Changed Memory Leak tool script to use a different file extension '.mle' rather than the '.pll' which conflicts with the Polling scripts.
